Manalemosh Dibo, one of Ethiopia’s most popular singers, well known for her traditionally inspired songs such as Awdamet (Holiday) is in the hospital suffering from cancer and in need of desperate help.

ETV reports that Manalemosh had received private medical attention for a year but is now lacking funds and is currently in Tikur Anbessa (Black Lion) Hospital. Since then her condition has been deteriorating. From her hospital bed the much adored singer pleaded for help. At her bedside her sister, Almaz Dibo, also made a tearful plea saying that if Manalemosh doesn’t get the help she needs, her life may be cut short.

In the past Ethiopians have showed there is strength in numbers. This is an opportunity where we can do that again. TsehaiNY is organizing a fundraising effort from now up until November 30, 2009.  The funds collected will be sent directly to Abyssinia Bank Urael Branch Account #14314 on Tuesday, December 1, 2009. 

All funds collected and a copy of the transferred amount will be available online. Individuals wishing to help can make donations securely through PayPal.   

When people come together to help others, humanitarianism is at its best. Let us help this singer who has touched so many of us through her music and brought positive images of Ethiopia to the forefront.

TsehaiNY has learned that artist Manalemosh Dibo will be leaving Ethiopia this Sunday to receive medical treatment.

Dink Magazine has reported that Sheikh Al Amoudi is financing all of Manalemosh's expenses.

Therefore, the donation that TsehaiNY has organized for Manalemosh Dibo will conclude today. As of this afternoon, we have collected the total amount of $540. We will be sending the funds to Manalemosh Dibo's account in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Our heartfelt thanks go out to everyone who was involved in this fundraising effort.

We wish Manalemosh Dibo our very best as we track and report her progress.
