On the ground floor of Lemons Contemporary, captivating photos taken by children from the ages of 9-15 are displayed on the walls. The pictures offer a rare glimpse into ‘Ethiopia as seen through a child’s lens’, easily inviting us into their lives. Next to each photo is a picture of the photographer and a brief memoir that adds a personal touch and invites us even further into the lives of the photographers.

If you are familiar with the tale of The Little Mermaid, then you know it takes a room full of visionaries to pull it off on Broadway! In fact, a team of theater artists from around the world gathered along with world-renowned director Francesca Zambello to bring the musical to life.
The Little Mermaid opened on Broadway January 10th and is showing at The Lunt-Fontanne Theatre located at 205 West 46th Street in New York. It follows the story of Ariel, a mermaid who longs to be a part of the human world.

Close to a thousand individuals were on hand to view the first screening in New York City of the documentary titled ‘Man of the Millennium’-An historical account of the life and times of Emperor Haile Selassie I. The Ethiopian and Rastafarian community filled the Oberia Dempsey Center on West 127th Street in Harlem, NY this past Saturday night. Produced by 28 year old filmmaker Tikher Teferra, this documentary aims to search and tell the story of the Last Emperor of Ethiopia. Read More |

At the end, Gete Wami couldn’t find the strength to pull off and finish first at ING’s New York City’s marathon which took place Sunday November 3, 2007. In a dramatic duel along with Paula Radcliffe of Britain, Ethiopia’s Gete Wami took the lead briefly with about a mile to go, but couldn’t hold against Radcliffe who was running her first marathon in two years after taking a maternity break. Radcliffe won by 23 seconds in 2 hours 23 minutes and 9 seconds
