Dibaba pulls out of Oslo Golden League meet

OSLO (AFP) — Ethiopia's triple Olympic champion Tirunesh Dibaba will miss Friday's Golden League meeting in Oslo after suffering a minor injury, her manager Mark Wetmore has announced.

Dibaba's absence is a blow for Bislett Games organisers who were billing this second Golden League meet as a showdown between Dibaba and her compatriot Meseret Defar for the world 5,000 metres record.

"She (Dibaba) picked up a minor injury in training on Tuesday which I was only made aware of yesterday (Wednesday)," Wetmore reported.

Today President Obama highlighted innovative non-profit organizations making an impact across the country.  Invited to this conference was Alfa Demmellash, C.E.O. and co-founder of Rising Tide Capital.  President Obama highlighted the work of Alfa Demmellash and other non-for-profits. 

Obama noted “The hours are long and the pay could be better, let's face it…you teach us there's no such thing as a lost cause."  President Obama promised his administration will support organizations such as Rising Tide Capital.

Ethiopian Nationals among passenger & crew in Jet Crash over Indian Ocean

..A Yemeni aviation official said there were also nationals from Canada, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Morocco, the Palestinian territories, the Philippines and Yemen on the plane.

...Yemenia airline officials say the 11-member crew was made up of six Yemenis, including the pilot, two Moroccans, one Indonesian, one Ethiopian and 1 Filipino. The officials asked that their named not be used because they were not authorized to speak to the media.
